Slovenian Jewellery Week 2026

Do you love jewellery? Or are you a jewellery artist? Then the Jewellery Week in Ljubljana is for you!  Held annually in Ljubljana, the Slovenian Jewellery Week celebrates contemporary jewellery design from around the world. The event showcases the work of established and emerging jewellery designers, providing a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience.  The Slovenian Jewellery Association established Slovenian Jewellery Week in 2016 and has since become a highly anticipated event in the jewellery industry. It typically takes place over several days and includes exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and other events related to contemporary jewellery design. Slovenian Jewellery Week aims to promote contemporary jewellery design as an art form and foster collaboration and exchange between designers from different countries. This year’s curated exhibition explores the meaning of substance—its essence, its transformations, and the moment in which reimagining begins. In a world shaped by digitization, artificial intelligence, and virtual environments, the exhibition invites designers to examine the shifting relationship between the material and the spiritual, the physical and the virtual, tradition and modern technologies. It also asks whether an artist’s return to essence, nature, emotion, and slowness can be seen as a subtle form of rebellion against imitation, replication, and the erosion of sensory and intuitive intelligence.About the areaCentral Slovenia is known for its picturesque landscapes, including the Ljubljana Marshes, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the scenic hills and valleys of the Polhov Gradec and Škofja Loka hills. The region is also home to several historic castles and mansions, such as the Ljubljana Castle and the Turjak Castle. Ljubljana, the region’s capital and largest city is a vibrant cultural and economic hub. It is known for its lively street cafes, historic architecture, and pedestrian-friendly city centre. Malta Holy Week

A Journey Through Faith, Tradition and CelebrationHoly Week in Malta is one of the most important and moving times of the year. Celebrated across Malta and Gozo in the days leading up to Easter, it brings together centuries-old religious traditions, solemn rituals, and deeply rooted community participation. From quiet moments of reflection to dramatic street processions, Holy Week offers visitors a rare glimpse into Malta’s spiritual and cultural heart. What to ExpectHoly Week begins with Palm Sunday, when churches bless palm leaves and olive branches, commemorating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. The atmosphere gradually becomes more contemplative as the week progresses, with daily Masses, prayers, and visits to beautifully decorated churches. One of the most meaningful traditions takes place on Maundy Thursday, when locals perform the “Seven Visits,” walking to seven different churches to pray before elaborately adorned altars of repose. The most striking events occur on Good Friday, a public holiday in Malta. Towns and villages host slow, candlelit processions featuring life-sized statues depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ. Participants often dress as biblical figures, while others walk barefoot or hooded as acts of devotion. These processions are solemn, emotional, and deeply atmospheric. The mood changes completely on Easter Sunday, when the Resurrection is celebrated with joy. Bells ring across the islands, and lively processions of the Risen Christ take place, with statues carried briskly through the streets, symbolising triumph and renewal.About the AreaHoly Week events take place throughout Malta and Gozo, with notable processions in towns such as Żebbuġ, Luqa, Qormi, Mosta, and Xagħra in Gozo. Each locality adds its own character to the celebrations, making it worthwhile to experience more than one procession if time allows.
