Sleeping Bedroom 1: The 1st bedroom is furnished with two sets of twin joinable beds, a flat-screen TV and a wardrobe. Smoking is permitted only on the balcony. Location The property is situated on a quiet street in Badacsonytomaj, a small town on the northern shores of Lake Balaton, in western Hungary. It sits at the foot of Badacsony Hill, an extinct volcanic mountain covered with vineyards and woodland, and is one of the most attractive areas of the Balaton wine region. Badacsony is particularly famous for its white wines, including Olaszrizling and Szürkebarát, and there are numerous family-run wineries and wine cellars to visit. The apartment is within walking distance of several wineries; the closest, Borbély Családi Pincészet, is a 10-minute walk away, whilst Varga Pincészet and Váli Pincészet are both between a 3-6 minute drive away. There is also a supermarket a 10-minute walk away, and for the best local handmade or organic products there is a Saturday market in Hegymagas (Labdi Piac) (an 8-minute drive) and a weekend market in Káptalantóti (a 6-minute drive), which makes a great day out for the whole family. The town has a relaxed holiday atmosphere, with lakeside beaches, restaurants and cafés, while the surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, cycling and wine tasting. The beach is a 20-minute walk, and the port is just a 5-minute drive away, for trips out onto Hungary’s largest lake. Another highlight is Badacsony Hill, where marked walking trails lead through vineyards and woodland to viewpoints overlooking Lake Balaton. The Kisfaludy Lookout Tower (an 8-minute drive / 25-minute walk) offers spectacular panoramic views across the lake. Badacsonytomaj is positioned between Zagreb (Croatia) and Budapest international airports, which are both a 2-hour 30-minute drive away by car.
