Step into a real Puglian trullo in Carpignano Salentino, a conical stone dwelling with the thick whitewashed walls and rounded stone archways that define the region, sleeping up to four between a bedroom and a fold-out double sofa in the living area. The kitchen keeps things easy with a coffee machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, oven, fridge and induction hob, set against exposed stone and timber beams overhead, and air conditioning runs through both the living area and bedroom for the height of summer. Outside is where the trullo life happens: a private outdoor dining spot with a communal BBQ enclosed in a fenced garden. The relaxation is further elevated across the shared outdoors with terrace alongside a palm-fringed heated pool, and a pergola-shaded chill zone furnished with wicker seating and a hanging egg chair, ideal for slow afternoons. Sleeping Bedroom 1: A double bed with air conditioning, set beneath the trullo's original stone walls. Living Room: A double sofa bed adds a second sleeping option, useful for a family of four or a group of friends. Location Carpignano Salentino's own village and the town of Martano are both a five-minute drive: the village is home to the Byzantine crypt of Santa Cristina and streets lined with olive trees, while Martano offers baroque palaces, artisan workshops and a morning market for fresh produce, cheese and bread. The supermarket run is just as quick, five minutes away. Further out, Otranto's Old Town and its mosaic-floored cathedral are a twenty-minute drive, and Lecce's historic centre, with Piazza del Duomo, the Basilica di Santa Croce and its baroque facades, a Roman amphitheatre and boutique shopping, is thirty minutes away, an easy day trip with aperitivo back in Martano's piazza on the way home. For the coast, Torre dell'Orso beach and its turquoise water is fifteen minutes by car, and the natural swimming pool at Grotta della Poesia, often ranked among the most beautiful in the world, is twenty minutes away, with lunch in nearby Melendugno for fresh seafood and pasta. Brindisi Airport is roughly 50 minutes by car, and public transport in the area is limited, so a car is recommended. Agriturismo experiences and working farms dot the surrounding countryside for anyone who wants to extend the slow pace of the stay.
