Location
At the north-eastern end of the Gulf of Asinara, the town of Castelsardo has been voted one of the 100 most beautiful towns in Italy and it is easy to see why. The town is dominated by the Castello dei Doria (10 minute walk), a Medieval fortress, which is now a popular museum of traditional Meditteranean life. Guests can find all the amenities they might need in Castelsardo; excellent restaurants for all budgets, supermarkets (3 minute drive), banks and pharmacies.
The area is blessed with some fine beaches including the Spiaggia La Marina (5 minutes walk) which is a city beach with all the amenities you might need. Out of town, there is the Spiaggia Lu Bagnu (6 minute drive) with emerald-green waters and the Spiaggia San Pietro (17 minute drive) which is famous for its clear water and shells. For more active holidays, the town offers diving centres and has a lively marina. There are ferries between Porto di Castelsardo (5 minute drive) and Corsica, so visitors can explore Sardinia and its northern neighbour.
Alghero Airport is just 1 hour away by car. Alternatively Olbia Airport is 1 hour and 35 minutes.
