For the ultimate retreat, on the banks of the Verzasca River, surrounded by beautiful mountains, this alpine cottage is the perfect option. The sensitively restored house sleeps 4 people and would suit a family or friends who want an escape in unspoiled nature. The front door leads from the attractive garden directly into the cosy downstairs living area. Here guests will find armchairs, a fireplace for chilly evenings, a flat-screen TV, a dining table and a newly fitted kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. There is another front door on the 1st floor which leads to the upstairs bedrooms. Sleeping Bedroom 1: Tucked under the eaves, the master bedroom is furnished with a double bed and wardrobe. Bedroom 2: The second bedroom, which also has a pitched beamed ceiling, has two single beds and a wardrobe. Bathroom The tiled bathroom has a shower, basin, WC and washing machine. Location The house is off the beaten track,(a non-sports car is recommended), surrounded by meadows and woodland, overlooking the lovely Verzasca River. There are many hiking paths through the BO Bosco as well as lovely treks along the Redorta River, up to La Froda waterfall (30-minute walk). The picture-postcard village of Sonogno is just 15 minutes from the house. Here guests can find a small grocery store and various cafés. The beautiful city of Locarno, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, is 40 minutes away. The Thursday market in Piazza Grande combines a farmers market, where you can pick up the best local produce, with stalls selling regional crafts and second-hand clothes, books etc. Bellinzona (50 minutes) is famous for its 3 medieval castles, which make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a great day trip. If you miss the Locarno market then Bellinzona’s weekly market (Saturday morning) is one of the best in the region. The closest international airport is in Italy, Milan Malpensa is 2 hours 10 minutes away by car. Linate Airport is 2 hours and 25 minutes.
