Join thousands of people from around Italy and the world to witness the spectacle of Festa dei Ceri!  Known as Corsa dei Ceri or the Race of the Candles, the Festa dei Ceri is a centuries-old festival that takes place annually in the town of Gubbio, located in the Umbria region of Italy and takes place every year on the 15th of May. The festival is centered around the celebration of the town's patron saint, Ubaldo Baldassini and involves the carrying of three enormous wooden structures or "ceri", each weighing several hundred kilograms, through the streets of Gubbio from Piazza Grande to the Cathedral.  The ceri represent the town's three patron saints: Saint Ubaldo, Saint George, and Saint Anthony. Each ceri is carried by a team of men known as "ceraioli," who race through the streets of the town to the Basilica of Saint Ubaldo on top of Mount Ingino. The festival also includes a range of other events, including religious processions, musical performances, and food and wine tastings! About the area: Gubbio is known for its medieval architecture, including the Palazzo dei Consoli, a Gothic-style palace that now houses a museum, and the Roman Theatre, which dates to the 1st century BC. Lose yourself in a fair of flowers at the Noto Flower Festival!  Every year, the third Sunday in May is dedicated to the Infiorata di Noto, a festival that transforms the historic streets of Noto, Sicily, into a vibrant tapestry of flowers. Artists meticulously craft intricate floral mosaics using millions of flower petals, covering the streets with stunning designs that celebrate religion, mythology, art, and local folklore.  The festival's centrepiece is a spectacular 122-metre-long and 7-metre-wide flower carpet, covering approximately 700 square metres. This breathtaking masterpiece is created with 400,000 flowers, including carnations, gerberas, daisies, tufts of fennel and euphorbia, valerian flowers, artemisia, myrtle, and other natural materials sourced from the surrounding countryside.For the 46th edition of the Infiorata di Noto, the theme has been revealed as "Art makes peace: the Infiorata that unites, hope beyond borders." This year, the festival will highlight the power of art to transcend boundaries and foster unity, with stunning floral depictions conveying messages of harmony and cultural connection. Fun, love and run: The Three Hearts Marathon is Slovenia is for all!  Named after the three hearts that appear on the coat of arms of Radenci, The Three Hearts Marathon is an annual running event, which is one of the most beautiful and well-organized marathons in Slovenia. The marathon course takes runners through the beautiful countryside and past many of the town's cultural and historical landmarks.  The event includes several different races, including a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K race, and a children's race. The longest, 42-km-long course crosses the Slovenian-Austrian border several times.
