Every
summer, the city of Lugano transforms into a vibrant cultural hub with the Long
Lake Festival. Scheduled from July 10 to 27, 2025, this multidisciplinary
open-air festival offers a rich tapestry of music, theatre, art, and
family-friendly activities, all set against the stunning backdrop of Lake
Lugano.
Since the 1970s, LongLake Festival has grown into one of Switzerland’s largest and most
engaging open-air cultural festivals. It unites international and local
artists, cultural associations, and visitors of all ages in a lively
celebration of art, music, and community.
The
festival kicks off with the 45th edition of Estival Jazz from July 10 to 12.
This beloved free event has been a staple since the 1970s, bringing
high-quality jazz performances to the heart of the city. This year, British
Italian singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti will take the stage on July 12,
performing tracks from his new Italian-language album.
Next
up is Blues to Bop on July 18 and 19, celebrating blues and its musical roots
with live performances and engaging discussions, all taking place in Lugano’s
atmospheric public squares.
From
July 23 to 27, the spotlight shifts to the Lugano Buskers Festival, a colourful
and dynamic celebration of street performance and alternative art. This section
of the LongLake Festival brings together musicians, jugglers, acrobats,
comedians, fire-breathers, dancers, and visual artists from around the world.
The streets, piazzas, and lakeside paths become open stages where audiences can enjoy an eclectic range of shows — from soulful music and playful mime acts to circus tricks and impromptu puppet theatre. It’s raw, interactive, and full of surprises — a place where the boundary between performer and audience fades.
Lugano, nestled on the shores of Lake Lugano, is surrounded by stunning mountains and lush greenery, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and urban sophistication. Located in the Italian-speaking region of southern Switzerland, Lugano is known for its Mediterranean flair, mild climate, and picturesque landscapes. The city is a hub for culture, art, and leisure, with elegant promenades along the lake, vibrant squares, and a variety of parks. Visitors can explore its rich history through its museums, galleries, and beautiful architecture, or enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and boat trips on the lake. With its mix of Swiss precision and Italian warmth, Lugano is a delightful destination that combines relaxation with cultural exploration.
