Wander, Art, Dance, Repeat: That’s Špancirfest For You!
Every summer, the picturesque baroque city of Varaždin comes alive with the energy, colour, and creativity of Špancirfest, one of Croatia’s most beloved cultural festivals. This year, from August 21 to 30, 2026, the historic city centre will transform into a vibrant hub of live music, street performances, art installations, and culinary delights.
What is Špancirfest?
Špancirfest is a 10-day celebration of art, entertainment, and community spirit, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. Rooted in the Croatian word špancirati (to stroll or promenade), the festival invites you to explore Varaždin’s winding streets while enjoying open-air concerts, theatrical shows, interactive workshops, and gourmet experiences.
Music plays a central role in the festival atmosphere, with the main stage hosting a diverse line-up of international and regional performers. Past editions have featured acts such as S.A.R.S., Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo, Bajaga i Instruktori, Urban & 4 with a string orchestra, Letu Štuke and PipsChips&Videoclips. The programme has also welcomed international highlights like Korean rock legends YB and the energetic female rock band Rolling Quartz, alongside unique performances including Disco Opera and special concerts by artists such as Zvonko Bogdan, Darko Rundek and Amira Medunjanin. Together, these artists create a dynamic musical programme that blends rock, world music, pop and regional favourites, making Špancirfest a true celebration of sound and culture.
