Great apartment in the perfect location. Very short walk to waterfront, piazzas, and restaurants but still very quiet in the evenings and early mornings. Apartment was spacious and had everything we needed. We were comfortable with fans and windows open at night but it would be very warm in the summer. Varenna is a beautiful area!

Wonderful apartment right in the middle of things! The only two issues we had were that the instructions had the wrong mailbox on them to find the lockbox, and the WiFi network/password hadn’t been updated, but Harold was so quick to respond, so it didn’t even matter. We’d certainly love to return!

The apartment was clean, spacious and had all the amenities we needed for a short stay in Varenna. It is located very close to the local bars and restaurants and a 15 minute walk from the train station. The self check-in process was simple, although the instructions we were sent had the wrong box described for our apartment, but it was self explanatory once we got there as the boxes are all lettered. A bottle of red wine was left for us on check in, which was a lovely touch and greatly appreciated! The only small bit of feedback I’d have is that it could do with a large mirror in the bedroom for getting ready.

I have nothing but GOOD to say at all about our stay here while we were vacationing in Italy. I’ll point out what I’d say are obvious to most stays in Italy, just because I think it’s good information for Americans like us. A lot of people on these apps leave negative feedback for these reasons, but just know that we’re in Italy and these factors are just about everywhere here. 1) there are steps to get to your room, sometimes a lot of them. At the actual apartment, there are only a couple steps, I wouldn’t even call them stairs. Plenty of stairs before you get there though. 2) the showers are small! I’m 6’4” and 240lbs… I fit, but it’s not like home, lol. Okay now that that’s over with, here’s the positive aspects of this place. 1. Location, location, location!!! Easy walk to anywhere. 10 minutes with luggage from the train. Food right underneath you (make a reservation). Food along the water, nearly the entire way to the ferry stop… which is about a 10 minute walk. Make the hike up to the castle, the views are worth it! 2. Washing machine. This was huge for us as it was the halfway stop of our 17 day vacation. There’s even a great clothes rack in the closet to help drying. NOTE: NO AC! We didn’t need it, the fans worked great, but just beware in case you’re coming when it’s hotter. Stay here, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Our stay in this lovely apartment in Varenna situated over a little Italian restaurant was absolutely perfect! Super charming with an absolutely stunning view of Lake Como from the living room and bathroom windows. It was very well equipped with anything we needed for our stay. We loved the entire experience!

The property is great! We stayed here celebrating our honeymoon. It was very clean and the check in process was clear. It looks out into a beautiful piazza and you can partially see the lake and mountains from the windows. It has a nice, small shared outside space with a view of the lake. It’s close to everything in Varenna and a 10 minute walk from the train station. We would definitely stay here again!

This place is great! It’s right in the center of town and close to everything in Varenna. It looks out into a beautiful piazza and you can also partly see the lake and mountains from the windows. There is also a shared outside area where you can see the lake a bit better. We would definitely go back!

The apartment is clean and modern. Some street noise during the day but quiet at night. The apt is difficult to find. GPS directions send you along the harbor which is difficult with bags. Stick to the high Road. There is a sloped drive that goes down just before the Royal Victoria Hotel. The bed is comfortable. The shower a little cramped. The kitchen is well equipped. We did not use it much but appreciated the washing machine. The apt is an excellent base for exploring the lake towns.

The team was friendly and responsive to our questions. We very much enjoyed our stay in the apartment and in Varenna.

We booked this cute stay for a short trip in Varenna for a wedding. This was very centrally located, securely locked behind a gated entrance and secure inside access. We loved the space, it was very cleanly, beautiful view and a lot of appliances- the washer and dryer was an added bonus! There were also multiple fans in multiple rooms, which was very appreciated because it was very hot in the summer. We also appreciated the welcome box full of wine, water and snacks! The host was also very easy to reach and responded to us quickly to support with early check in. Thanks so much!

The detailed instructions to find the property (with photos) were helpful/necessary and remote access to the keys was nice. The windows views were very good and great for breezes (we also used the fan). The bed was comfortable and the washing machine was very useful. A care package was waiting for us on the kitchen table with snacks, milk and wine (bring your own coffee). The restaurant in the courtyard at the base of the building was excellent (reserve ahead in high season). It was a very pleasant stay in a great location, very close to restaurants and sites. (The ferry was 10 minutes walk, the tourist office just up the street off the square)

Beautifully furnished, and includes everything a guest might want. Loved the wrap around balconies with direct views to the stunning coastline. There are many, many steps to reach it, that got easier each climb. A porter carried our heavy bags thankfully. The pictures.are accurate as well. We only wished we could have stayed longer!

We enjoyed our stay at this property very much. The location in Varenna was perfect. And we loved Varenna. What a great place! You are only minutes away from anywhere and it was easy to find and the check in process was great. The patio is not just for this apartment, but we found it open often and it was a great place to chill and enjoy the scenery. We also met one of the other tenants up there and had a great time visiting with them. It's on the first floor so easy to come and go, though you do a lot of climbing of stairs and hills wherever you go in Varenna because of the way it's laid out. The place is comfortable and there is a little noise from below, but it's not a late night city and sleeping was very easy. There is a washing machine which was very handy, but when you're traveling it's hard to get things dry in time for the next leg of the trip and a drying rack would be nice. Also, the coffee maker was useless to us as there were no pods to be found so we had to walk to get coffee each morning. The kitchen has some basics but not enough to really cook your own meals, though there really isn't a good grocery store in town so we probably wouldn't have been cooking anyway. But I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place in Varenna.

My husband and I spent a week in Varenna in June and this apartment was our home-away-from home. We found the apartment to be spotlessly clean and well furnished, with plenty of storage space. The kitchen was well-stocked with crockery, utensils, pots and pans, etc. and we prepared and ate most of our meals in the apartment. It is close to the waterfront and is in a perfect location for experiencing the sights and sounds of Varenna. The windows of the apartment face a small square and there is a restaurant, with outdoor seating, directly below. Although the apartment was very quiet with the windows closed, when we opened the windows and the shutters, we could hear the sounds of the neighborhood and we felt that we were able to experience what it is like living there. After a day exploring the area, it was lovely to come back and relax in our Varenna "home". Perhaps the most special feature of this apartment was the communal patio. Much to our delight, it offers a terrific view of the water-front area of Varenna and of Lake Cumo. As far as we could tell, very few tourists staying in Varenna had access to such a view. We spent a number of evenings just sitting there enjoying the view and, in fact, we decided to spend our last day in Varenna just relaxing around the apartment and we spent quite a number of hours sitting on this patio. We would definitely recommend this apartment to others and we would want to stay there again when we return to Varenna.

We were extremely pleased with this property. It is in a very charming and convenient spot very near the town square and the shops and restaurants on the waterfront. Varenna is a jewel and we are very glad we chose it and did side trips from there. The place is very clean and everything was of good quality. The instructions from the management company with directions and how to get in were detailed and easy to follow. We felt very secure with the gated entry area. The communal patio was small but offered a beautiful view. If returning to Varenna we would stay there again. It is very comfortable for two adults but would be tight for four.

The location of the apartment was great. There were many restaurants close by. There was also a small, we'll-stocked shop. But the best thing was the view of Varenna and the lake from the garden patio area which was fabulous.

Casa Al Prato A is a great apartment for a couple or even a family with 1 small child. it is incredibly convenient to the main square and the action part of town. we were wrapped to find a washing machine which we put to use catching up on several weeks of travelling laundry. All facilities were great but there are just a few small things that seemed odd and could easily be improved with little cost to make it perfect. There is a large amount of plates, bowls etc that would be enough for an enormous gathering and yet it’s just a one bedroom apartment ? If you use these plates etc there is no washing up detergent provided or any T towels to dry them? the is absolutely no amenities like salt & Pepper Tea or coffee so bring all those things as well as your washing up equipment if you plan to cook. We loved the bed and we were quite surprised how comfortable it was. on first seeing it I was not expecting much with pine blocks and zip ties seeming holding it up & together but I am glad to say it was great. There is heaps of storage & access is good. My only other suggestion would be to buy some new towels. The ones provided we very thin & although they did the job, nice fluffy towels give a feeling of luxury & with a few thoughtful improvements would make this place special and ultimately worth more as a rental.

We very much enjoyed the apartment. It was comfortable and in a very good location. We realy enjoyed the easy check in with access to the keys and appreciated the help we got getting a ride to the airport after we encountered a rail strike on the day we needed to get back to Milano. I would have liked a different coffee maker. For me, having coffee in the room to get me going is very important. We couldn't even use the one in the apartment because we never found a place to buy one of the cartridges it requires. Some extra items in the kitchen would be nice like some spices and cooking oil and a dish towel at the sink seems appropriate. Also, having a clothes washer is wonderful, but in these humid areas, a drying rack is really needed. But all in all, we would love to come back to Varenna and would stay in this apartment again.

June 2016 This apartment was beautiful. Right in the great town of Varenna, close to everything, but not so close as to be noisy and congested. Everything was as described/shown, with the exception of the main photo for the listing, which shows the view from a communal terraced patio, which is shared by all apartments. There was never anyone else on the patio during our stay, so it was accessible whenever we wanted, but just good to know. The apartment was spacious, clean, and a great base from which to explore all of Lake Como. We had a blast and will definitely consider staying here again on future travels to Como. Neal, USA

Apartment was clean and put together. Good location and loved the welcome basket. The only suggestion would be to have walking directions from the ferry/train. We came in on the Ferry and bypassed walking up all of the stairs so came up to the location from the bottom and not from the Royal Victoria side so was a little confused but got there.

The location of the apartment is literally perfect. The courtyard has a little patio so you could sit and play cards above the main street, taking in all the atmosphere and stunning view without the wait for a table. The apartment itself was clean and comfy but just a warning to anyone who needs more, it’s definitely primitive. The water didn’t get very hot, there was only one towel per person, there was spare pillows but no extra pillow cases, the tv doesn’t work either. We made do with all the above, particularly as the location is so central it’s great to get out an about anyway! We didn’t use the kitchen as we just went to the square for coffee and croissants etc every day! Overall an amazing stay and would do it again, but if you’re looking for hotel luxe then this isn’t the best apartment for you.

The location & the apartment itself were really fantastic- a beautiful airy apartment overlooking a shady square, and about 30 seconds walk to the absolute hub of Varenna restaurants & bars. Very easy to get to ferry port, and useful local shops about 2 mins walk from front door as well (grocery store, bakers, meat/cheese, coffee shop...). There are a few fixes which the property managers need to put in place though to really elevate the apartment - some of which would be easy (supplying a plug that fits the kitchen sink, fixing the bin lid & broken toilet roll holder, providing instructions in the apartment with wifi code & locations of local shops, removing used clothes from the bedroom wardrobe), others are probably a bit bigger jobs (fixing a broken shutter, realigning wonky bed legs, slight leak in the shower...). The property managers were generally fairly responsive when contacted, so I hope they will be addressing them soon - it's not a cheap apartment rental, and while 90% of it lives up to the promise of the price, it did fall a little short on those basic requirements.

Overall we loved the apartment but the coffee maker used a capsule not compatible with Nespresso and the correct capsule was not available from the 2 grocery stores in Varenna or a larger grocery store in Menaggio. So the apartment does not come with a usable coffee maker in my opinion. Management said the capsules could be found at a large supermarket but there were no large supermarkets to be found.

This is a great apartment. I was a little worried, as it was the last place left in Varenna on AirB&B, but as it turned out, we couldn't be happier. The location is perfect, just off the main square of town and right above Bar Molo, probably the best cafe overlooking the lake. The apartment itself is large and clean, with everything supplied - more like a serviced apartment than a normal AirB&B. No WiFi, which is a pity, but there is free WiFi at the cafe below. It's an easy and well- explained process to get the key. I really can't recommend highly enough - a great apartment in a beautiful location.

The property was great! The center of everything but also impressively quiet. The most helpful feedback I can leave you is to mark the correct location of the unit on the website map. It was easy to find with your included directions but the map people use to decide if they want to rent is incorrect and actually shows a poor location. Also I would include photos of the views from the Windows.

The photos were misleading as to a balcony with a table, there were no instructions on operating the stove or washing machine, no owners book on local information, groceries, restaurants etc. Very poorly stocked with start up supplies. Two subsequent rentals were many times better then this one!
