Founded in 1997, the Florence Biennale is a prominent international exhibition held every two years in the historic Fortezza da Basso. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the leading contemporary art and design events in Europe. The Biennale welcomes around 600 artists and designers from over 80 countries, presenting a wide range of artistic expressions—from visual arts to digital installations and design disciplines. The Florence Biennale presents the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” International Award for Art across multiple categories, along with Lifetime Achievement Honours, which this year will be awarded to Tim Burton and Patricia Urquiola. Visitors can also enjoy a rich program of talks, workshops, performances, and interactive experiences like the 'scan.art' guided tours.

This year, the event will be held from 18 to 26 October 2025, bringing together contemporary artists and designers from over 80 countries. The theme for this 15th edition is “The Sublime Essence of Light and Darkness”, exploring concepts of dualism, identity, and unity in today's creative landscape.
