This sad but powerful story is remembered every year through a spectacular fireworks show. As the sun sets, people light candles in a touching tribute to the island's tragic past, placing them on windowsills, balconies, and along the shoreline. This beautiful moment sets the stage for the evening's highlight — a spectacular 45-minute fireworks display at 10:30 pm, as boats gather in the bay to watch. On Sunday, a flotilla of decorated ‘Lucie’ boats sails to Isola Comacina, where a religious procession heads to the ancient ruins of the Basilica of Saint Eufemia for Mass.
