This newly renovated, first-floor apartment is in a traditional courtyard house in the village of Gignese, just 10 minutes from Lake Maggiore. It can sleep 5 people and makes an ideal base for an exciting holiday, exploring this beautiful region. Up a small flight of steps from the entrance hall, guests will find the spacious living room which has a panoramic view of Mount Mottarone. It is stylishly furnished with two sofas, a flat-screen TV and a wood-burning stove. There is a dining area at the other end of the room and a separate, modern kitchen. The kitchen is well-equipped with an induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, a small dining table and coffee machine. Guests can enjoy the shared courtyard which is furnished with a table and chairs. The perfect place to unwind after a day by the lake. The owners feed the resident cat here twice a day, so any dogs staying will need to be kept on a lead or be cat-friendly! Sleeping Bedroom 1: The airy master bedroom has an antique double bed and a wardrobe. Bedroom 2: The second bedroom has a single bed, with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and French windows leading out onto a private balcony. Bedroom 3: This cosy bedroom has a single bed and a wardrobe. It is quieter and less crowded than the lakeside towns. Gignese is surrounded by forest and offers some wonderful hiking and mountain biking through the trees with spectacular lake views. Nearby Stresa (10 minutes) is best known for its grand Art Deco villas and elegant hotels. Its lakefront promenade gives visitors the perfect location for admiring both the lake and the town. Stresa hosts many international cultural festivals including cinema and music throughout the year. The weekly market (Friday mornings) is a treasure trove for the best local produce. Otherwise, there are many excellent grocery shops and supermarkets close by. It is easy to explore Lake Maggiore as there is a pier in Piazza Marconi (18 minutes) in Stresa where you can catch a ferry to the famous Borromean Islands. With their beautiful villas, gardens and churches, the islands make a great day trip. For children, the Alpyland Mottarone Adventure Park is 22 minutes away. There are rides and activities for all ages. Milan’s international Malpensa airport is a 50-minute drive.
