For those interested in history the sites are endless. The apartment is just a 10-13-minute drive to the ancient Roman amphitheatre, Palazzo Biscari and the Piazza del Duomo. The Duomo di Catania is a majestic Norman cathedral, and hidden behind it you will find the daily fish market for the freshest local catch, plus good vegetables, fruit and meats. The city is well-known for its delicious food with many local restaurants serving Sicilian specialities and wonderful seafood. Unique to Catania are the “cioscu”, little kiosks all over the city serving refreshments in the hot summer months. The most famous are in the Piazza Umberto (10 minutes drive). If you need to get out of the city for a day, the Park of Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, (1 hour 50 min drive) offers excellent hiking all year round, including hikes up to the peak of the volcano. Or head to the beach and La Playa di Catania. This long, wide sandy beach has beach clubs, snack bars, a water park for children and a clean, blue sea. Catania’s International Airport is just a 20-minute drive from the apartment and the nearest bus stop is just next door.

Even though we had some initial hiccups (the floor was a bit dusty, 2 kits of towels were missing and the door was difficult to locate as there were other 5 on the same floor) the manager was extremely friendly and sent us someone to clean the floor and provided has with the missing towels kit the next day. The house is big and with lots of toys, making it the perfect place for families with kids like us. The parking space is a huge plus as you don’t have to worry about overnight parking and you know your car is safe. The location is perfect, being close to the sea, restaurants, bars, playgrounds, supermarkets and even an entertainment park for the little ones. We overall enjoyed our stay, and the house provided a good value for money.

Beautiful apartment, but it needs some serious maintenance. Besides, we had a good experience, the check in and out instructions were straight forward and the kids appreciated the toys in the kids bedroom a lot. Thank you very much :)

In base alla mia recente esperienza nell’alloggio posso dire che la casa in linea generale è bella e spaziosa i mobili sono di qualità e la maggior parte ben tenuti, anche se non tutti. Come per esempio la cucina la quale necessita di maggiore attenzione da parte dello staff per quanto riguarda la pulizia. Nonché suggerisco di acquistare delle stoviglie nuove perché quelle presenti o sono insufficienti o molto, molto usurate. In linea generale credo che la casa necessiti di maggiore manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria. Giovanni l’host molto cordiale disponibile e reattivo nel cercare di risolvere ogni tipo di problematica.

The apartment is a spacious former family home, located in a closed-gate residential compound. It is close to the promenade and there is quite lively amusement park just across the street. Most of the rooms are facing that entrance side and are exposed to its noise. There were two aircons in the place, which were so complicated to operate, that I never bothered learning how to program them. There is also a central heating, which was on every night. The kitchen is well equipped with old and scratched pots and pans, but there was no kettle. Most items were greasy and it’s a shame as there was a dishwasher available. We did request a corkscrew and a chef’s knife and the host has kindly provided them, but the knife was not good The oven was so complicated to operate, that again, we never bothered even trying it. Perhaps the biggest negative of this place is, that it was dated. Almost every surface in the kitchen was greasy and sticky. There were countless number of dusty hangers in the wardrobe, also there were dated and dusty items in the bathroom. The shower pressure was good, but again its head was not clean. The benches and the swing on the terrace were dirty, the sofas in the lounge were dated. Brand new towels and bed linen. On our last morning, I got awaken by a violent car horn noise, around 3-4am. It felt like the biggest traffic jam I was involved in, only lying in bed! Good communication with the host. Would I return – no. It did not feel like home away from home
