In the heart of Salento, the Masseria San Biagio is a stylish retreat surrounded by woodland and stunning countryside. The house is set in beautiful grounds with a large swimming pool and is a convenient base for visitors who want to explore this scenic part of Puglia. On the first floor, with direct access to the extensive terrace and shaded seating areas, the spacious room is furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, writing desk, mini-fridge and flat-screen TV. Masseria San Biagio’s gardens and outside spaces have been created with as much care and attention as the interiors. Guests can enjoy breakfast outside, with honey from the bees on the estate and homemade marmalade. The owners have laid out different paths around the grounds, which range from the scents path through aromatic herbs and flowers, to the historical path which leads to the chapel of San Biagio, which is over 1000 years old and the fitness path for more energetic guests. The large shared swimming pool is surrounded by an extensive terrace, furnished with sun loungers, umbrellas and seating areas. It makes the ideal spot to relax in the sun after a refreshing dip. There is also a massage and well-being centre on site where guests can have a soothing massage or other treatments. Sleeping The living room has a double bed. The town is known for its traditional white houses as well as palaces and beautiful churches. Calimera’s weekly market takes place on Thursday and is the best place to pick up the freshest local delicacies and experience authentic Puglian life. Salento’s most beautiful beaches are all within easy reach. The beaches at Otranto (25 minutes), Porto Cesareo (45 minutes) and Gallipoli (45 minutes) are known for their pristine sea and shallow waters, ideal for younger children and snorkelling. Golfers will enjoy the two courses near the town of Acaya (20 minutes) or for more exercise and a hike through unspoilt Mediterranean countryside, there is the WWF nature reserve of Le Cesine (25 minutes). The closest airport is at Brindisi - just 55 minutes away by car.
