From here, visitors can take the ferry from the port (a 15-minute walk) and visit the small islands of Isola Bella and the Palazzo Borromeo, the imposing 17th-century palace and its famous gardens. Arona has a lakeside promenade and a well-preserved historic centre with traditional Italian architecture, with wonderful bistros, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy culinary influences from France, Switzerland and Italy.
