Argentière is well-known for the wide variety of both winter and summer activities on offer. It is a centre for skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. The Grands Montets cable car station (11-minute walk) takes visitors up to the high slopes for skiing or hiking, depending on the time of year. In the summer months, there are numerous options including hiking and biking, rock climbing, mountaineering and white-water rafting. Chamonix golf club is just a 7-minute drive. The area has many fine restaurants and bars, which will suit all budgets and ages. For self-catering Argentière market is every Sunday morning and Chamonix’s market in Place du Mont Blanc (10 minutes) takes place every Saturday. Both offer the chance to pick up the best, freshest local ingredients. Geneva Airport is a 1-hour and 20-minute drive from the apartment. Argentière railway station, which offers free train services to other resorts on the Mont Blanc Express, is just a 9-minute walk away.

The flat was great for a family of five adults. All was as explained. The flat felt bigger than it looked on the photos, especially downstairs. Great location near Grands Montets, walking distance to the excellent Namaste afterski in a specialist ski shop, Hotel Le Couronne’s restaurant and a couple of bars and a bakery. Car port parking was a great bonus. And there were two bathrooms, one with a bath tub the other with a shower. This was not mentioned so we expected just the one. Nice. Minor drawbacks were; large, hard and uncomfortable cushions, quite cold and draughty inside when temperatures outside fell to -20 degrees Celsius - but quality wool blankets were left in the wardrobe, no door or curtain to the bunk room, located by the main road so very noisy when the snow shovelling took place overnight. Would be very happy to return.
