The Palazzo Spinola National Gallery is worth a visit, as are the glorious romanesque San Lorenzo Cathedral and Piazza de Ferrari. The exciting Porto Antico is 30 minutes away by public transport. This lively area appeals to all ages and includes restaurants, shops, the modern Aquarium di Genova, the biosphere, an outdoor swimming pool and the Vascello Neptune, a replica of a 17th Century galleon. Genova is famous for its fine food and has many excellent restaurants to suit all budgets. To shop like a local, there are street markets every day across most of the city.
