The house is less than 5 minutes from the pretty fishing village of Nerezine which has a lively port where visitors can rent a boat to explore the coast. If you can tear yourself away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia, then the town of Mali Lošinj (20 minutes) makes a great day out. It is famous for its large harbour and 19th-century villas in nearby Čikat bay. The Museum of Apoxyomenos is the island’s main cultural attraction. For self-catering there are some supermarkets in Mali Lošinj and an excellent fish market where you can purchase the freshest fish to cook at home. There are several watersports schools on the island where visitors can learn to sail, windsurf or surf and the pristine sea means that there is excellent visibility for snorkelling and scuba diving. For hiking enthusiasts trails to Lošinj’s highest mountain (Osorcica) start from the village. The island is only reachable via ferry from the Croatian mainland. The closest international airport is at Rijeka (2 hours 10 minutes including ferry).
