Location
Vrsar is less crowded than its more famous neighbours - Porec (15 minutes) and Rovinj (40 minutes). Visitors can watch the world go by from one of many waterfront restaurants and bars. The old town on the hill has delightful winding streets, and parts of the ancient town walls are still standing.
There are beautiful beaches nearby with crystal-clear water, ideal for scuba diving. Visitors can also hire kayaks or paddleboards to explore this lovely coast.
The ancient city of Pula (45 minutes) makes a fascinating day trip. A visit to Pula’s famously well-preserved amphitheatre (Pula Arena) is a must, as well as the Temple of Augustus and the Forum. The Forum is the city’s central square, full of cafés and excellent restaurants. Visitors can explore the narrow streets, packed with history and cute boutiques.
For self-catering, visit the Green market - open daily from April to September, 6.00am to 2.00pm. Here you can find the freshest local fruit and vegetables. The fish market at Lunar Vrsar is also open every morning. From July to September you can buy the best Istrian produce directly from the farmers at Vrsar Harbour, Tuesday and Saturday 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
Pula International Airport is just 45 minutes away.
