Location
The Medieval heart of Koper and Titov trg (Titov Square), with its Venetian-style architecture, is a fascinating place to explore. Koper was once part of the Venetian Empire, and this has left its mark on the town. The narrow streets of the historical centre offer some excellent restaurants and cafés.
There are many wonderful beaches along the coast, including Zusterna Beach (10 minutes) and the beach at Punta Grossa nature reserve (20 minutes). Further along the coast is the charming harbour town of Izola (16 minutes). One of the oldest settlements on the coast, it is packed with history and has a lively marina. Visitors can hire kayaks and paddle boards to explore this stunning coastline.
Away from the coast, the area is famous for its rock formations, caves and subterranean rivers. Skocjan Caves (30 minutes) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a spectacular series of caves, stalagmites and stalactites.
For self-catering, try Koper’s daily farmers’ market. Here you will find the best, freshest local ingredients.
The closest airport is Trieste, Italy, which is a 1-hour drive. Alternatively, Ljubljana Airport is 1 hour and 45 minutes.

We really enjoyed our stay at OT Residence in Koper. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It had everything we needed during our stay: all the necessary appliances, kitchenware, paper towels, toilet paper and other essentials. Everything was prepared very thoughtfully, so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The location is also excellent. The apartment is situated in the old part of Koper, which is a lovely area for walking around, exploring the historic streets and enjoying the nearby parks. The seafront and the beach are just a few streets away, so you can easily walk there in just a few minutes. Overall, we were very happy with the apartment and would definitely recommend it. The only downside of our stay was parking, but this is not related to the apartment itself — it is more of a general issue in Slovenia, or at least in Koper. Parking near residential buildings is quite restricted, so you need to use designated public parking areas. We used the EasyPark app to find and pay for parking. I would strongly recommend checking the parking rules carefully and not leaving your car in an unauthorized place, even for a relatively short time, as parking regulations are strictly enforced and fines can be expensive. Apart from the parking situation, we had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed both the apartment and Koper.
