It is a convenient base from which to explore the nearby vineyards around Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Medieval town of Gavi (17 minutes) makes a delightful day trip. In addition to its famous white wine, visitors can enjoy the hilltop castle and a meal at one of the many fine restaurants in the town. The region is known for its mild climate, and there are many hiking routes in the picturesque countryside.
