Keszthely's town centre, home to the baroque Festetics Palace, the quirky Snail Parliament, the Festetics Lookout Tower, Helikon Park and the Szigetfürdő pool complex, is a 7-minute drive away, along with the giant wheel, Lake Balaton boat tours and the Balaton Museum. A 10-minute walk brings guests to the lakeside promenade, with its lido, the Keszthely Yacht Club and biking and hiking trails along the water, and restaurants and cafés are within easy walking distance too. Further out, the Hévíz Thermal Lake, the world's largest biologically active thermal lake, is a 15-minute drive, and the volcanic vineyards of the Badacsony wine region, known for the local Kéknyelű grape, are a 30-minute drive. The region's small Hévíz-Balaton Airport is around 20 minutes away, while Budapest's Liszt Ferenc Airport, the main international gateway, is roughly two and a half hours' drive.
