The bright, first-floor apartment is one of 8 that make up the Poggio Verde agriturismo, an old farm, in the peaceful Umbrian countryside. Close to Lake Trasimeno and surrounded by olive trees, each sunny apartment has its own entrance. The private staircase leads up to a spacious open-plan living area, furnished with a sofa, a large open fireplace, an attractive antique dresser and a flat-screen TV. The kitchen/dining area is separated from the living room by a half wall. There is a rustic dining table and chairs and a stylish blue and pale wood fitted kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine. A small oven is available on request. Double doors lead from the dining area onto a private balcony with stunning views out over the gardens to the distant hills. The balcony includes an outside dining area for meals al fresco and sun loungers where guests can relax in peace The shared gardens have been arranged with as much care as the interiors. By the pool, guests will find sun-loungers and parasols. The garden also has a children’s play area and a table tennis table. Location Poggia Verde is well located for guests to explore Umbria and southern Tuscany. Castiglione del Lago (10 minutes), with its medieval castle that dominates the lakeshore, offers wonderful views over the beautiful Lake Trasimeno. On the water, guests can enjoy many different watersports, including canoeing and swimming. Away from the lake, visitors can cycle or hike along one of the many tracks that crisscross the stunning countryside. The capital of Umbria, Perugia is 45 minutes away. It is well worth a visit, as is the famous town of Assisi (1 hour) birthplace of St Francis and a site of pilgrimage. Over the border in Tuscany, Montepulciano (40 minutes) makes an interesting day trip. Here you can visit many different wine producers and try some of the famous red wines and buy some to enjoy at home. The closest airport is at Perugia (50 minutes drive)
