Within this local area, you can visit the popular beaches of Gorgun and the Xatt I-Ahmar salt pans, as well as scuba dive in various wrecks and reefs around the southern shoreline. The main town of Gozo is Victoria, accessible by a quick 15-minute car journey. Victoria is an ancient medieval town famous for its Citadel and fortifications with many museums and tours dedicated to showcasing its ancient history. Mgarr Harbour is also home to the Gozo ferry terminal, with frequent ferries for the 25 min crossing to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal on Malta with accessible public transport and highway connections to the international airport.
