In the charming old village of Gordola (only 12 minutes from the centre of Locarno), tucked away in the narrow streets of typical Ticino houses, we find the cosy Ca' Cornocc. It sleeps up to 4 people and is ideal for families with one or two children, but also for a romantic or sporty stay.
The house’s attractive, rustic exterior hides a contemporary, airy interior. The front door opens into a spacious living room, which has a corner sofa and a flat-screen TV. A step leads into a newly fitted kitchen/dinner, which is partially separated by a half wall. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. There is a pine table with 6 chairs for casual meals.
French windows open onto the terrace. There is an attractive outdoor dining area with a stone table, stone bench and chairs for relaxed meals al fresco.

Location
Gordola is at the mouth of the stunning Verzasca Valley, which is famous for its natural beauty. Visitors will enjoy the hiking trails through the woods; climbing the higher slopes, or simply going for a dip in the crystal-clear river. For families try www.bobosco.ch, where you can enjoy hiking through the woods with games and activities en route (20 minutes). In short, there is something for everyone. Sonogno, the last village at the end of the valley is only 25 minutes by car.
The beautiful city of Locarno, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, is 10 minutes away. The Thursday market in Piazza Grande combines a farmers market, where you can pick up the best local produce, with stalls selling regional crafts and second-hand clothes, books etc.
Away from the lake is the historic town of Bellinzona (20 minutes), famous for its 3 medieval castles, which make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It makes for a great day trip. If you miss the Locarno market then Bellinzona’s weekly market (Saturday morning) is one of the best in the region.
