Stresa hosts many international cultural festivals, including cinematic and musical events throughout the year. The Borromean Islands make a wonderful day out. Visitors can discover beautiful villas, gardens and churches. There are regular ferries to the islands from Stresa. For self-catering, Stresa’s market (Friday mornings) is a treasure trove for the best local produce. Otherwise, there are many excellent grocery shops and supermarkets close by. Milan’s international Malpensa airport is a 50-minute drive.
